Shared Agreements
To foster an safe, inclusive, and valuable space for everybody Crown Yoga teachers, staff, and students are expected to read, understand, and align with the following shared agreements, or “responsibilities” while taking classes at the studio. Thank you.
Student Responsibilities

Crown Yoga’s students have a primary responsibility to prioritize their own safety by listening to their body, communicating any limitations to the teachers, modifying poses as needed, and informing the teacher of any medical conditions that could affect their practice.
Students are required to respect the studio energy, space, and others, as well as to:
Arrive on time. The studio opens 15 minutes prior to the start of class, and the door will lock at the start of class to minimize disruptions to class.
Practice self-awareness. Understand your physical capabilities and limitations, and adjust poses accordingly to avoid injury, asking the teacher for help if necessary.
Communicate with teachers. Inform your yoga teacher about any injuries, medical conditions, or concerns you may have before starting a class.
Be respectful. Arrive on time (doors close at the start of class). Maintain silence during class, and be mindful of other students' space.
Wear appropriate attire.Wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement.
Sign the waiver. Sign the liability waiver acknowledging the risks associated with yoga practice.
Be mindful. Focus on your own practice without being overly concerned with others. Refrain from gossip, bullying, and other practices that harm others.
Read the policies. Read, understand, and align yourself with all of the Crown Yoga studio policies and student responsibilities, including (and not limited to):
Plan policies;
Cancellation policies;
Refund policy;
Privacy policy; and,

CROWN YOGA SHALA STUDIO Responsibilities
When you’re a student at Crown, you can expect Crown Yoga, its teachers, staff, and ownership, to uphold the following responsibilities.

Crown Yoga’s primary responsibility to its students is to provide a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where students can learn and practice yoga; ensure qualified instruction; cater to diverse abilities'/levels/needs, etc.; and maintain the high standards of the 8 Limbs of yoga. This, while respecting individual needs and promoting a positive experience for every student as they show up. Most importantly, we believe our students are our family and friends, and we uphold our responsibilities with that in mind.
The following responsibilities are listed in alphabetical order, not in order of importance as they are all important.
Qualified teachers. We employ certified, senior-level and advanced senior-level yoga teachers who are experienced, knowledgeable about and trained in different yoga styles and can adapt their teaching to suit individual student needs through the use of modifications, props, adjustments and verbal cueing.
Safe environment. We offer a clean and well-maintained studio space with proper equipment, and clear instructions on proper use while any safety concerns promptly. We are LGBTQIA+ allys and participate in the City of Renton’s Safe Place program.
Ability levels. Our classes are built for all levels unless otherwise stated. Students receive modifications and variations of poses to accommodate a classroom with diverse abilities and experience levels.
Accessibility. Our building was built in the 1950s, prior to the ADA going into effect; therefore, we have limited physical accessibility within the building. Please contact Sarah with questions or concerns about ADA accessibility. We want everyone to have access to yoga.
Respect. We foster a positive and inclusive environment where all students feel comfortable and respected regardless of their body type, gender, race, experience level, etc.
Communication. We provide clear instructions on poses, proper alignment, meditation, and breathing techniques, while being open to questions and feedback from students.
Transparent Communication. We communicate important issues with students as transparently. as possible, as soon as possible.
Ethical practices. We adhere to professional standards, maintain confidentiality, and do not engage in gossip, inappropriate, or other harmful behavior towards students. teachers, humans, or other beings in general.
Continuing education. We encourage our teachers to stay updated on current yoga practices and techniques through ongoing training and workshops.
Student feedback. We create quarterly opportunities for students to provide feedback on their experience at the studio, offer suggestions, and opportunities to contribute to improving the studio's offerings. We also provide other opportunities for feedback as they arise— questions, concerns, and constructive feedback, etc.
