Sound Bath & Sound Healing
with Sarah Espe, C-ASM, RYT
Immerse yourself in the experience of restorative sound healing.
During this shared meditative and restorative experience, participants will embark upon a variety of diverse vibrations, tones, and sounds intentionally devoid of a structured melody or beat. This deliberate arrangement allows participants to automatically surrender expectation and experience a profound meditative state. Be prepared to traverse the realms of consciousness, gently drifting in and out of awareness.
-
The impact on your body during a sound bath can be transformative. You may feel a sense of relaxation, profound calmness, or a rooted connection to the present moment. Your mind may undergo a spectrum of experiences, ranging from crystal-clear clarity to blissful emptiness, or being adorned with a kaleidoscope of colors, images, and shapes. Emotionally, the journey can be just as diverse, eliciting joy, happiness, gratitude, relief, or even moments of introspective sadness or annoyance.
There's no predefined script – each encounter is unique and deeply personal.
It's important to acknowledge that everyone's threshold for this experience is different. If at any point you find the session too intense, loud, or uncomfortable, be empowered to quietly exit the room. Similarly, if you encounter emotions that become overwhelming, there's absolutely no judgment in staying and experiencing those emotions.
Your well-being is our priority, and we encourage you to embrace your experience authentically, knowing that there is no right or wrong way to navigate a sound bath with Crown Yoga.
Friday Night Sound Bath Experience
During the darker evenings, our Friday evening sound bath sessions are held by candlelight. While also providing a calming and beautiful ambiance, the dimmer light allows us to focus inward and experience a deep meditative state. Each sound bath begins with setting an intention for your session, some breathwork, a grounding and deeply relaxing meditation, and the sound bath experience itself.
-
Friday evening sessions begin by creating a supported restorative or supine pose known as savasana with studio props. Focus on supporting your neck, lower back, arms, and any other areas necessary, to provide your body complete support for pure relaxation.
The experience begins with a breathing practice and a deep, grounding meditation. This is followed by the sound healing session. The benefits of sound healing are created by the vibrations of the quartz crystal sound bowls, accompanied by delicate melody of the Koshi chimes.Instruments and sounds may include:
Quartz crystal singing bowls
Koshi chimes
Steel tong drum
Peruvian rainstick
Kalimba
Meinl Shakers
Chakapa (leaf bundle)

Placing six selenite wands in a circle, the selenite will work with the body’s hemispheric balance to bring both sides into total alignment. In the process, any manifestations of imbalance can be eradicated.
Additionally, with this “vortex”, the selenite pulls the spinal column into alignment and thus increases one’s natural flexibility.

Yoga Nidra, often referred to as "yogic sleep," is a deeply relaxing and restorative meditation practice that guides practitioners into a state of conscious relaxation. In this state, the body rests deeply, but the mind remains alert and aware.
Yoga Nidra is typically practiced lying down in a comfortable position, and it involves a guided meditation through various stages to bring about physical, mental, and emotional relaxation.
This is a really nice accompaniment to a sound bath.

Sound Bath F.A.Q.
Sound Bath is not a new form of meditation, but it’s only been recently that it’s gained more popularity. We receive many questions about the experience, the set up, and what a participant should expect and prepare for. There are no silly questions. Below is information we hope is helpful as your consider or prepare for your Sound Bath experience.
-
Normally, no. Unless you're participating in a floating sound bath on water.
In general, please bring the following items with you to the sound bath:
• Yoga mat
• Blanket(s)

• Water bottle
• An intention
-
Participants are “bathed” in sound waves produced by various musical healing instruments played by the practitioner. Sarah primarily uses quartz crystal singing bowls and Koshi chimes; however, you may also experience seed shell shakers, bamboo rain sticks, ocean drums, Tibetan singing bowls, and tuning forks.
-
The sounds and vibrations you will experience are varied and do not hook into a melody or beat. This allows you to release and let go, entering into a meditative state. You may find yourself drift in and out of awareness. Your body may become deeply relaxed, calm, or firmly grounded. Your mind may experience clarity, peace, or nothing at all. You may see a variety of colors, images, shapes or patterns. You may experience a variety of emotions including joy and happiness, gratitude, relief, annoyance, or sadness. There is no right or wrong way to experience a sound bath.
-
Please know that if a sound bath experience is too strong, loud, or uncomfortable, it is OK for you to use ear plugs. Your body will still receive the benefit of the vibrations from the bowls.
You may also leave the space. This goes for experiencing a feeling, sensation or emotion that is too strong or difficult to sit with. You may always leave the room or leave the venue.
